It is one thing having a master, it is quite another to walk the steps he trod, experience the sensations he felt, and do the things he did. It is an experience tinged with surrealism which words can never express.
But that was exactly what happened to former beauty queen and consummate events planner and public decorator, Ibidun Ajayi-Ighodalo, few days ago. The boss of Elizabeth R, an upscale events planning company on the island, was on pilgrimage to the Holy Land in company of her husband, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo. It was indeed a dream come true for the former Miss Lux, as she got to be baptized in the waters of biblical and spiritually-laden River Jordan, the same river Jesus Christ was baptized in, at the beginning of his ministry. Overwhelmed and obviously humbled by the experience, the adoptive mother of pretty Keke, took to the social media to share her excitement. She even had time to poke fun at her husband, the Senior Pastor of Trinity House Church, Ituah Ighodalo, who was by her side, smiling, yet anxious through it all. Ibidun, the brain behind Ibidun Ighodalo Foundation, has already encountered her baptism by fire. No sooner had she been sealed in wedlock with Pastor Ituah, than tongues started wagging over her childlessness. Amidst nights of self-doubt, she forged ahead resolutely, of course with her faithful husband by her side. She has since become a beacon of hope to women everywhere with her health and fertility-oriented programmes. Now she can enjoy the baptism by water, all smiles, humility, gratitude and pride in her, for how far she has come. Just like her mentor, Jesus Christ, whose baptism marked his formal arrival big time in his mission on earth, few are betting against beautiful Ibidun emerging from her latest experience with renewed fire to make a difference, and hopefully have her answers by way of the fruit of the womb.
Let somebody shout a Big Halleluiah for Mademoiselle Ibidun Ighodalo. Amen.
