Religion that is pure and undefined before God, is to visit orphans and widows in their afflictions, and to keep oneself unstained from the world and anyone that strives to help a widow or the poor is like one who struggles in the cause of God.

Maybe these are words that could have been running in the minds of the versatile politician, Senator Iyiola Omisore when he removed his toga to identified with the KICC Pastor Matthew and his wife Yemisi Ashimolowo to feed over twenty thousand widows in Osun State. Freebies were given to the thousands of widows at Osun State, it was a beehive if activities as tens of thousands of widows besieged the Kings University premises for the annual empowerment program by Matthew And Yemisi Ashimolowo. Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola commended the generousity and large heart of Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo and his wife, Yemisi at the widow empowerment program held at Odeomu in Ayedaade local government area of Osun State. The governor who was represented by his deputy, Mrs Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori on Saturday witnessed a mammoth crowd of widows from different neighbouring villages, who all came in thousands to benefit from the annual empowerment program of the clergies. Mrs Tomori was elated seeing thousands of widows from Ikire, Gbongan, Osogbo, Ile-ife, Odeomu and other neighbouring villages to receive wrappers and cash as ways of supporting them. She along with others spent almost an hour giving the gifts to the widows and noted that such gesture is well appreciated by the Osun State government. Senator Iyiola Omisore as well as ministers of the gospel namely Prophet Kayode Abiara, Prophet Wole Oladiyun, Rev Taiwo Adelakun and Pastor Femi Faseru of KICC were at the ceremony held at Kings University in Osun State. Senator Omisore while talking to journalists said it was a lofty measure by Pastor Ashimolowo as other people should toe the line by celebrating the widows who will in turn pray for the givers. He noted that philanthropy was an initiative that every meaningful Nigeria should do as he also did his own widow empowerment not long ago.

"Government can not do it all. What Pastor Ashimolowo has done is to demonstrate that individuals as well as organisations should always help people in this way as seventeen thousand widows were here and be blessed. God will always bless the giver, " Omisore stated.

The host, Matthew Ashimolowo, founder of Kingsway International Churches, noted that the annual empowerment will metamorphose into a bigger initiative where a mobile clinic will be deployed to villages to screen some of the widows and provide health care.
