He was once touted to be nursing an ambition for the governorship of his home state, Ondo; and the intensity and undercurrents of his ambition then was largely looming and fast gaining grounds in many political circles in state and even beyond.

All of a sudden his political drums just stopped beating and the reverberations ceased momentarily, for reason(s) that could not be easily deciphered. But it’s been scooped that since Akin Akinfemiwa, the former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Skye Bank and now Chairman of Heritage Bank, was mentioned in some financial malfeasance and misappropriations that ran into billions of naira, the man had decided to remain docile and unusually inactive on all fronts, as the fear of the almighty anti-graft agency, EFCC, is the beginning of wisdom for many in his ilk. Even when the Heritage Bank, which he chairs the board, was fingered in some monumental fraudulent activities in connivance with top government functionaries, the man simply decided not to make any comment on the damning allegations. So the political dream has to remain in that realm for now until the flying allegations about his culpability in the alleged financial crimes are laid to rest. The banking guru would not want to be asked questions on where the huge money he has hitherto spending to feather his governorship ambition have been coming from vis-a-viz the huge amount involved in the scary allegations. What a strange way to stop a good music.
